Just a short stroll from Town Hall and Museum stations, Level 1 of the Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts offers a unique blend of history, character and modern comfort.
At its centre is the Henry Carmichael Theatre — an elegant, tiered space seating up to 140, complete with a small stage and in-house AV. Ideal for screenings, panels, readings or spirited debate.
Outside the theatre, the light-filled foyer sets the tone for warm welcomes, check-ins and casual catch-ups over tea.
Tucked just beyond are a suite of beautifully refurbished meeting rooms that are easily adapted for workshops, breakout sessions or collaborative projects. Soundproof bi-fold doors allow you to create up to four separate spaces or open them up as one.
Need more? The Tom Keneally Centre and Boardroom on Level 3 offer additional spaces with their own distinctive charm.
When you host your event at SMSA, you have the flexibility to choose what works best – use our in-house catering or bring your own.
Our catering options are flexible and affordable, covering everything from breakfast to afternoon tea, with coffee, tea and light refreshments available.
Prefer to self-cater? A fully equipped commercial kitchen on Level 1 is available when booked alongside the venue.
Stay connected with free Wi-Fi throughout the SMSA. Need tech support? Smart screens, microphones, lecterns and whiteboards are available on request.
