A PIECE OF SMSA HISTORY

Daring Debaters: Exploring SMSA artifacts at the State Library of NSW

In celebration of our rich history, the SMSA was given exclusive access to the Special Collection at the State Library of NSW.

We had the privilege of speaking with Richard Neville, the Mitchell Librarian, and together explore The Annual Report of the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts Debating Club from 1898.

This fragile artifact tells the story of an SMSA group with a passion for social change, within its pages are questions that were revolutionary at the time and hold historical significance today.

Enjoy watching this beautiful insight into the SMSA’s place in history below.

Special thanks to Richard Neville and The State Library of NSW.
