Nun Plussed by By Monica Quill

Monica Quill is a pseudonym of Ralph McInerny, and although one could say it was a Miss Marple clone, Nun Plussed is a lot of fun. .

An elderly nun who was a former teacher at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana, keeps a distant watch over her former students and notices something is amiss. She is both curious and concerned about an article of an upcoming marriage of one of her former students because she knows that she is a married woman.

Before long, however, she hears that her dear pupil has been brutally murdered. Drawn in, she meddles a bit and interviews via a gentile home visit. What she discovers is not expected and many dark secrets are revealed.

This is a story for a lazy day when you are not ready to fully engage your grey matter but want a gentle titillation of humour and days gone by; it’s a light, comforting read for conservative readers.
