How I’ll Kill You by Ren DeStefano
This debut thriller is about identical triplets who have a nasty habit of killing their boyfriends. But what happens when the youngest commits their worst crime yet: falling in love with her mark. With the clock ticking, and her sisters growing restless, it becomes clear that the gravesite Sissy chose will hide a body. But if she betrays her family, will it be hers?
This was such an unconventional, creepy, and emotional story that you won’t be able to put down. Being inside Sissy’s mind as she dreams about her perfect murder for Edison, while at the same time fantasizing about her future with him, is similar to the mindset of Caroline Kepnes’ You series.
The fast-pacing and tense atmosphere leaves you spellbound with not only the internal struggle of Sissy over family and love, but the relationships that Sissy has with everyone in town. The ending is brilliant and did leave me a little teary which was a slight shock. The conclusions are logical, smart, and fair. Not to mention that DeStefano ties up all the loose ends perfectly as the sun sets in this middle-of-nowhere town in Arizona.
This is definitely a strong debut, and I can’t wait to see what DeStefano comes up with next.
