VIRTUAL VIEWING PARTY Pontecorvo’s The Battle of Algiers

VIRTUAL VIEWING PARTY Pontecorvo’s The Battle of Algiers

Date & Time

July 9, 2020 - 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Commissioned by the Aglerian government and acknowledged as a masterpiece, The Battle of Algiers tells the  story of the Algerian war for independence from French colonial rule.

Having abandoned Vietnam in defeat, the French foreign legion has something to prove. Loathe to lose another colony, they wage vicious war against the determined Algerians independence fighters.

Although the film shows that war harms everyone who participates in it, ironically the Pentagon, Black Panthers and IRA all studied the film to learn how to counter (or wage, as the case may be) an insurgency.

This will be a virtual event via Zoom and Beamafilm.
