3rd – 8th July during Library open hours.
As part of NAIDOC week at the SMSA, our library team is thrilled to be adding a selection of new books that amplify First Nations voices and stories to our library collection. Keep an eye out for these new books on our social media.
The SMSA would also like to invite our members to join us in the mindful practice of colouring during NAIDOC Week.
We will be offering blank posters designed by Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul and Yawuru artist Bobbi Lockyer. The SMSA library will provide a quiet creative space with a selection of colouring pencils for members to use, create and enjoy.
Bobbi Lockyer’s poster is inspired by this year’s NAIDOC theme, For Our Elders, Bobbi stated that she wanted to “showcase how important our Elders are in passing down traditions and culture to our children and future. ”We are very excited to see the artworks our members create.
Our colouring space will be available in the Library on Level 2 from the 3rd – 8th July during Library open hours.
We are home to a unique collection of books, a highlight being our Mystery and Crime section.
We are honoured to be the home of Tom Keneally’s personal collection of books, many of which have been used as research for his own works.
Join a members group, share your passions, learn new skills, make new friends and get involved.
We provide a variety of member only events, these are relaxed social occasions to have fun and make new friends.
